Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux wasn’t healthy enough to finish last weekend’s win over the Jets, but he did practice Wednesday in a limited capacity.Godchaux hurt his ankle in the second quarter last Sunday and missed the second half. His participation in Wednesday’s padded practice indicates he could recover in time for the Pats’ upcoming game at Dallas.Godchaux was one of five Patriots listed on the team’s first injury report of the week, which did not include right guard Mike Onwenu, indicating he’s fully recovered from offseason ankle surgery. As everyone in the Bruins’ dressing room will tell you, there is no replacing Patrice Bergeron. He won six Selke Awards, a Stanley Cup and became a Black-and-Gold institution in his decades in uniform.But in reality, someone will have to take Bergeron’s place on the ice. And it appears Pavel Zacha will get every opportunity to take over as much of Bergeron’s work load that he can handle.On Tuesday in training camp, Zacha assumed the Bergeron role on the top power play, bringing his left shot to the bumper position. SAN DIEGO -- A program to help people living with untreated mental health or substance abuse challenges is rolling out in San Diego.Seven California counties will implement the Community, Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment Act, or CARE Act, pilot program starting Oct. 1. Nearly a billion in wildfire costs helps to push B.C.’s projected deficit to $6.7B

VICTORIA — A record-high $966 million in wildfire spending and lower natural gas prices have added $2.5 billion to British Columbia’s projected deficit for this fiscal year. The new projection of $6.7 billion comes as Finance Minister Katrine Conroy releases the province’s first-quarterly report for 2023-2024.The report says updated wildfire expenses are $762 million more than planned for in Budget 2023, while revenue from natural gas royalties fell by $1.2 billion as prices declined.Conroy says the province had already taken into account a possible drop in natural gas revenue in this year’s budget projections, but didn’t anticipate prices dropping as much as they did.The provincial economy preformed better than expected this year with economic growth forecast at 1.2 per cent, but the government says that is likely to slow to about 0.8 per cent, just over half of what was expected for 2024. Conroy says B.C.’s diverse economy and strong financial plannin...
