ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Capital District Transportation Authority is offering free rides starting at 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The offer runs until approximately 2 a.m. on January 1. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! The CDTA will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on January 1. The Northway Xpress (nX) and Thruway Xpress (TX) services will not be available. Regular weekday service will resume on Tuesday.CDTA Sales window will be closed on Monday and Tuesday and reopen on Wednesday. Amsterdam looking for food vendor for its golf course

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The City of Amsterdam has issued a request for proposals for food and beverage service at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course Pavilion. According to the city, the restaurant area in under construction and is expected to be complete on March 1, 2025. Because of that, the Pavilion has been renovated to serve a light fare menu and has a full-service drink station. The chosen bidder would also be expected to operate a beverage cart while the course is open.The concessions stand would be expected to be open seven days a week, including holidays, during golf season. ST. LOUIS - We're just days away from ringing in the new year. There are lots of ways to celebrate, but police say there's at least one act of celebration that's illegal in St. Louis. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department shared a tweet Friday reminding people that celebratory gunfire is illegal in the City of St. Louis because "it is illegal to discharge firearms in the city."The St. Louis Code of Ordinances states, "No person shall discharge any kind of firearm in this City without permission of the Mayor" unless they are a member of the police force, on duty under orders of a commanding officer or a manufacturer of weapons under approved testing standards. NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks edged lower on the final day of trading for 2023 in what has been a surprisingly strong year of gains on Wall Street.Yet the so-called Magnificent 7 companies — Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta Platforms and Tesla — accounted for about two-thirds of the gains in the S&P 500 this year, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. Nvidia leads the group with a gain of about 240%. The S&P 500 index fell 0.3% Friday and is sitting just below the all-time high it set in January of 2022.
